Hello, adventurers! I have very much enjoyed sharing my words and sounds here on Adventure Hat for the past year or so. I’m looking forward to Adventure Hat going strong into the next, with even more essays, stories, images, audio, and music.
I have two requests:
First request: If you’ve enjoyed what you find on Adventure Hat, please share it with others who you think would find it engaging, and gently encourage them to subscribe.
This newsletter format is built around subscriptions rather than algorithms and search, and the email inbox is the primary method of distribution. This method also makes it nice and easy for subscribers to like, comment, share, or otherwise communicate directly with me.
For everyone’s convenience, here’s a super handy shareable “Subscribe” link.
Second request: As much as I love sharing with you my own stories of adventure and misadventure, I want to hear your stories, too, podcast-style. Here’s my pitch to you:
You know how everyone has that one completely bonkers, unbelievable, eye-popping, jaw-dropping, one-in-a-million adventure story that is COMPLETELY TRUE? There’s usually some mix of danger, comedy, redemption, random bad or good luck, and an unforeseen twist or two.
You probably have one. (Here’s mine.) I want to hear yours!
We’ll sit down in front of a couple of microphones (in-person or remotely) to record. You’ll tell it to me just like you would at the bar, or dinner table, or wherever. Then I’ll edit it up nice and pretty and share it here on Adventure Hat.
It’ll be fun! Email me your story pitch at helloadventurehat@gmail.com–it can be short and sweet. Like this:
Subject: My most ridiculous story
Body: My story is that I took my family on a side trip when we were in Italy, and all our plans fell apart. It was a super long day of bad luck and worse decision-making. It involves two car accidents and a volcano.
Thanks in advance for sharing Adventure Hat with others and for your bonkers stories.
Onward!
